Neostrata’s Exfoliating Wash

I came in touch with Neostrata products because my family doctor used to carry the range. Then, my cousin started to work for NeoAsia Singapore, the distributor for Neostrata Skincare Products and most of my aunts used the products. I have sensitive skin, so I am skeptical of skincare products and will only use products which I have tried and tested before without causing any skin irritation to my face. I am a victim of melasma, which is a very common patchy brown, tan, or blue-gray facial skin discoloration, seen in its entirety in women in their reproductive years.

Melasma typically appears on the upper cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and chin of women 20-50 years of age. Although possible, the condition is uncommon in males. Over 90% of those with melasma are women. It is thought to be primarily related to external sun exposure, external hormones like birth control pills, and internal hormonal changes which are common in most pregnancies. Most people with melasma have a history of daily or intermittent sun exposure, and heat is suspected to be an underlying factor. Melasma is most common among pregnant women and women of Latin and Asian descents. People with olive or darker skin, like Hispanic, Asian, and Middle Eastern individuals, have higher incidences of melasma. Another common cause of Melasma is genetics.

For the longest time, I have wanted to treat my melasma which seems to be getting worse with age and also because of the fact that I go out into the sun without proper protection. So now, I am very careful and I use products with high SPF. I chanced upon this anti-aging Neostrata Exfoliating Wash. I wanted to try it out but was afraid that my sensitive skin would react to a new product, so it was left unused for nearly 2 months. Then I decided that since it’s a product that is highly recommended, helps anti-aging and hopefully lightens my pigmentation, so I decided to try it. It comes in a very nice silver box and it is an exfoliant and a foaming cleanser altogether. I used only 2 pumps of the product, applied it onto my sensitive skin, washed it off and my face felt cleaner than ever before. So, I am confident to say that the product is suitable for sensitive skin. The pros about this product is that it is an exfoliator and cleanser with an anti-aging component. It requires small amount of the product to clean the whole face which makes it cost-effective. The soap-free cleanser also helps to remove make-up, dirt and oil all at once. It not only saves cost but also time spent on using too many products to strip yourself off make-up which throw your facial PH level and moisture level off balance.

I hope that my pigmentation will get lighter with the product but I don’t think it treats melasma. I will probably have to get a few rounds of laser treatments to remove my melasma. What I have to do now is to use the product religiously and when I go out into the sun, I must make sure that I put on my day moisturizer with high SPF or a sunscreen. Or, maybe I should try Neostrata’s Enlighten Range to help with the pigmentation.  You will be able to find and read about all Neostrata products from their website at www.neostrata.com.sg.
